Market Science
On Saturdays during the summer I join other graduate students and postdocs at the Midtown Farmers Market with Market Science to bring science to the market. Every week we have a different theme with activities and information on the research we're doing at the University of Minnesota. We're working to put a more approachable face on science and create a dialogue with our larger community. Checkout a recent Saturday that I planned focusing on amphibians. Saturday with a Scientist
I was able to participate in the Bell Museum's Saturday with a Scientist. Together with fellow graduate student Amanda Gorton, we created and put on a morning of activities and information for children and families focused on how amphibians and plants adapt to different environmental stresses. We brought in live plants and frogs to emphasize how these very different organisms have surprisingly similar ways of dealing with extreme climates. Curatorial Assistant
As a curatorial assistant with the Bell Museum of Natural History, I have frequent opportunities to interact with the public to talk about my research and the larger herpetology collections. |
